An artist friend wanted me to frame a ceramic tile she had made, brief was open as she didn't know what she wanted to do with it. We met up and chatted over coffee, I gave her a couple options of how I could frame the tile.
This is what I came up with.
Chunky matt black wood moulding makes up the box frame, the tile is float mounted and raised away from a gold hand gilt back board. The tile is secured to the back with silicone, this allows the tile to be easily removed if needed, but also the safest way to fix the tile without damaging it.
I decided on a open box frame (no glazing) to allow complete access, this enables the tile to be touched and viewed in its original form.
