An artist friend wanted me to frame a ceramic tile she had made, brief was open as she didn't know what she wanted to do with it. We met up and chatted over coffee, I gave her a couple options of how I could frame the tile.
This is what I came up with.
Chunky matt black wood moulding makes up the box frame, the tile is float mounted and raised away from a gold hand gilt back board. The tile is secured to the back with silicone, this allows the tile to be easily removed if needed, but also the safest way to fix the tile without damaging it.
I decided on a open box frame (no glazing) to allow complete access, this enables the tile to be touched and viewed in its original form.

Vintage map open brief.
I was given the exiting challenge of framing this vintage map for a customer, to showcase the print, rather than placing it in a generic mount and frame.
I decided the map should be floated mounted away from the back board, allowing the curled corners and creases to be visible.
To highlight the print I chose a medium grey back board, and window mounted in a Snow-White black core board. The window mount is positioned away from the back board and artwork, creating depth and allowing the map to hang naturally.

Framed a two pence piece for a customer's special birthday present to his sister, the date on the coin is the same year his sister was born.
It was a open brief! So i decided to float mount the coin, center it in a Snow white black core window, with a black laquered wood moulding. This was to elevate a common object, to something which reflects the sentiment behind the gift.
